BRACCO | Ito Mancho Expo 2025 Osaka

Video production

DESCRIPTION

We produced a video for Bracco focused on the diagnostic imaging analysis of the portrait of Ito Mancho, a painting by Domenico Tintoretto — son of the famous Venetian master — created in 1585.

Written and conceived by Mauro Belloni, the video is featured as part of the Italy Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka, where art, science, and technology converge in a unique visual narrative.

The project tells a fascinating story: Ito Mancho, a young Japanese prince sent to Italy during the Renaissance on a diplomatic mission, was portrayed by one of the great artists of the time. The painting then vanished for centuries, only to resurface four hundred years later under unexpected circumstances.

Using cutting-edge diagnostic imaging technologies, Bracco, together with a team of experts and university researchers, uncovered the painting’s hidden details — its materials, techniques, and the traces of its long journey between East and West.

WHAT WE DID

The video, created in motion graphics and 3D, tells two intertwined stories:

The journey of Ito Mancho, who traveled through Renaissance Italy, discovering the artworks and architectures that captured his gaze;
The scientific process of analyzing the painting, visualized through 3D animations that reveal how diagnostic data uncover the hidden layers of the artwork.

OUTCOME

The result is an immersive visual narrative where science and art exist in perfect harmony, creating an experience that blends memory, innovation, and wonder.

An audiovisual work that guides visitors of the Italy Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka on a journey between past and future, where scientific knowledge becomes a tool for discovery and technology serves the power of art.
